I am a constant contradiction, it seems. Every time I think I am successfully growing a thicker skin, I will catch myself being moved to tears by something overly sentimental that I would like to claim made me roll my eyes in utter disgust. I think I am an emotionally tough person when it comes to change or loss in my life, but not so tough that I can't be empathetic and kind in many situations. For those of you who didn't read my first journal post, I am currently adjusting to a queer lifestyle after being married for three years, and trying to figure out what kind of future I will be comfortable with. I grew up with strict Christian influences and parents who were somewhat naive and socially backward, so it is occasionally a struggle to keep those things from influencing my perspective on life, but I do my best. My current goals are to publish a piece of writing, to find a new place to live where I will have enough room to paint, and to get out of debt. Now to maintain patience in the meantime... that is always the hardest.
